- Provide an easily-accessible location for the authors of "Her Final Year" to collaborate on the book along with their wives, and
- Provide help, insight, and "lessons learned" examples for others who find themselves in a caregiving role for a victim of Alzheimer's Disease.
We have accomplished the first simply by creating the site. We hope to accomplish the second in an ongoing capacity upon the completion and publication of the book.
The book "Her Final Year" relates the experiences of two men who undertook the role of caregivers for their mothers-in-law, who were victims of Alzheimer's Disease.
Told using a 12-month format as an analogy for the Alzheimer's cycle, the authors explore the process of discovering and dealing with the decline of the family matriarch by interweaving their own thoughts and experiences with what they learned along the way from -- and about -- health insurance providers, medical professionals, Hospice nurses, social workers and nursing homes.
It is hoped that their experiences and the information they provide will help others who are now finding themselves confronted with an ailing parent who is slowly losing his or her mind as memories and identities slip away.
